Bangladesh observed World Health Day every year with due attention and care. The theme of the World Health Day, 2021 is Building a fairer, healthier world ” সকলের জন্য সুন্দর ও স্বাস্থ্যকর বিশ্ব গড়ি. This year World Health Day -2021 Bangladesh observed in befitting manner due to Corona Virus pandemic. But limited activities were undertaken to mark the day such as a paper supplement were published in the different daily newspaper including messages from the President, Prime Minster, Health Minister, Secretary, MOHFW, DG, DGHS, WHO official and other dignitaries for the day.
April 7 is observed as the World Health Day across the globe. The day, as the name suggests, is meant to raise, and create awareness about the importance of health and wellbeing. One of the major motives of the day is to sensitize as many people as possible about various health issues that exist in the society. These can range from mental health to women’s health and hygiene.
Though there will be no physical events this year due to the current pandemic situation. However, numbers of GO, NGOs and INGOs officials take part through virtually. Health Minister Zahid Maleque, MP has urged the people to be aware as Covid-19 infection rate is increasing again.
Officially World Health Day was launched at the conference room of the DGHS, Mohakhali, Dhaka at by the Director General of Health Services, Prof Dr. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam and Additional Director General ( Planning and Development ) Prof . Dr. Meerjady Sabrina Flora and also numbers of Line Director from different OPs and Chief and other official from Health Education Bureau as host organization . Honorable, Health Minister, Ministry of Health and Family Wefare, Zahid Malek, MP, were present as the chief guest at the Zoom meeting. Besides, Md. Ali Nur, Secretary of Health and Education Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Md. Lokman Mia, Secretary of Health Services Division were present as a special guest through zoom.
Directors, doctors, and senior officials of various departments of the Director General of health Services were present on the occasion on its inaugural session at DGHS premises at Dhaka. Bangladesh observes the World Health Day 2021 as elsewhere in the world today (Wednesday), amid the country’s health sector managers facing widespread criticism.
The health sector has so far achieved notable growth, but that has not been equitable and inclusive, health experts said on Tuesday, expressing their frustration over the poor service delivery.
