Like previous, this year also under the guidance of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Directorate General of Health Services, Bureau of Health Education observed the World Health Day nationwide. The Day celebrates worldwide in recognition to the foundation of World Health Organization.
The World Health Organisation was founded on the principle that everyone in the world should be able to realize their right to the highest possible level of health. This year, the theme selected as ‘Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for Primary Health Care (PHC) with a focus on equality and solidarity’ and in Bangla ‘সমতা ও সংহতি নির্ভর সার্বজনীন প্রাথমিক স্বাস্থ্যসেবা’
. An explanation of the theme is ensuring that everyone, everywhere can access essential quality health services without facing financial hardship. Universal health coverage has become a major goal for health reform in Bangladesh and is also a priority objective of the WHO.
The day’s programs were inaugurated at Krishibid Institution Bangladesh, on 7 April 2019 in Dhaka at 10:30am on Sunday. Mr. Zahid Maleque MP, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was present in the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr. Md. Murad Hassan MP, Hon’ble State Minister, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was present as Special Guest. Mr. G.M. Saleh Uddin, Secretary, Medical Education and Family Welfare Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was present as Special Guest. Mr. Md. Ashadul Islam, Secretary, Health Services Division, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare presided over the occasion.
