New Communication Strategy to Address Anaemia and Vitamin A

UNICEF in collaboration with Ministry of Industries and MOHFW held a participatory concept development workshop with approximately 26 public, private, development and NGO partners from 23-25 September 2011 in Savar. The purpose of the workshop was to develop a Communication Strategy for Vitamin A fortification through edible oil, Vitamin A supplementation, and micronutrient powder.

The Communication Strategy will identify approaches to scale interventions called for in MOHFW’s Anemia and Vitamin A strategies. By applying formative research conducted by UNICEF, key audiences, messages, channels and materials will be identified to promote Vitamin A through fortified edible oil which begins production in 19 refineries this November; and also to promote consumption of Vitamin A supplements and micronutrient power.
A second workshop will be held in Chittagong on 1-2 October. The Communication Strategy is expected to be finalized by November.
