A discussion meeting on Implementation of Comprehensive SBCC Strategy Action Plan was held on October 17, 2017 at the IEM Conference Room of DGFP with Ms. Roxana Quader, Additional Secretary (PH&WH) in the chair. She welcomed the participants from the different ministries, units of DGHS & DGFP, NIPORT and representatives from USAID, UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO, USAID Ujjiban SBCC project and invited them for self-introduction.
Later she explains the reason of convening the meeting. She mentioned that this Comprehensive Strategy and its Action Plan was developed as a guiding document in the last year in order to bring all Health, Population & Nutrition (HPN) SBCC activities implemented by GoB-NGO or DP in a common framework. But the implementation of the action plan activities was merely observed. So in order to expedite the implementation process of the action plan this meeting organized, she added. She requests the Joint Secretary, PH-2 to carry forward the meeting with the expectation of effective success of the meeting.
At the beginning Senior Communication Specialist of USAID Ujjiban SBCC Project Mr. Dipak Kanti Mazumder shared the different sections of the comprehensive strategy in the meeting through power point presentation.
Mr. Md. Ruhul Amin Talukder, Joint Secretary (PH-2) presented the action plan and explained the opportunities and challenges of implementation of the action plan. He emphasizes on all activities under section SBCC leadership, Capacity Development, Community engagement and Cross cutting-Monitoring & Evaluation, which includes especially SBCC focal point, BCC Working group, HPN SBCC Coordination & IEC Technical Committee, SBCC materials distribution & dissemination and monitoring & evaluation etc. Representatives from Bureau of Health Education (BHE) Mr. Mokhlesur Rahman & Mr. Aman Ullah of Institute of Public Health Nutrition (IPHN) of DGHS and Ms. Zakia Akhtar of Information, Education & Motivation (IEM) unit of DGFP also expresses their progress in line with the SBCC Strategy Action Plan.
Representatives from UNFPA, UNICEF, CBHC, Technical Support of Nutrition and Deputy Chief of Party of USAID Ujjiban SBCC Project also shared their views and comments during open discussion in the meeting.
About 40 participants from different ministries, representatives from BHE, IPHN, IEM, CBHC, MCHFP, MNCAH, PHC, MIS unit of DGHS & DGFP, NIPORT and development partners like UNICEF, UNFPA, WHO, USAID and USAID Ujjiban SBCC Project were present in the meeting.
After a long discussion many decisions were taken in order to expedite the implementation process of comprehensive SBCC Strategy and its Action Plan.
