USAID-Ujjiban SBCC project provided technical assistance in organizing the Divisional Coordination Workshop on SBCC at Sylhet

With a primary objective to promote the divisional level GO-NGO coordination and brings better program impact through SBCC approaches in the health and family planning program fields, a Divisional Coordination Workshop  was held at Sylhet. This Workshop was held on August 06, 2018 in the conference room of Divisional Director-Family Planning, Sylhet in which a total of 20 participants from Government and NGO those are working in the Sylhet Division participated. Divisional Directors both from the health and family planning departments participated in the meeting.  Dr. Mohammad Suhrawardy, Divisional Director-Health was present as Chairperson in the workshop while Mr. Kutuib Uddin, Divisional Director-Family Planning was present as special guest. The secondary objective of the meeting was to share the existing HPN SBCC program/activities being implemented by the GoB and NGO in the Sylhet division and promote coordination for better synergy in implementing the 4th sector development program and attain better program impact.

In addition to the DGHS and DGFP program officials the meeting had NGO representations from the RDRS, HEED-Bangladesh, SHIMANTIK, FIVDB-Sylhet  and Ujjiban shared their ongoing SBCC activities followed by discussions to find out way of better coordination. The meeting decided to continue such coordination meetings and planned for next coordination meeting be held by the end of October.

In the closing session Md. Kutubuddin, Divisional Director- Family Planning suggested that NGOs should have mentioned in their presentation about the reason of their achievements in respective SBCC program areas. He also suggested for a common guideline in making presentations in the coordination meetings. As closing remarks, the Chairperson Dr. Md. Suhrawardy, Divisional Director-Health expressed hopes that such coordination meeting will profusely contribute in avoiding duplication of work by way of coordinated effort.
