World Population Day being Observed

The World Population Day is being celebrated worldwide including Bangladesh on Wednesday to spread awareness and discuss issues related to population growth. In 1989, the Governing Council of the United Nations Development Programe recommended that July 11 be observed by the international community as World Population Day, a day to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues. A workshop on the work plan orientation and coordinated implementation of comprehensive SBCC Strategy for Sylhet division was held on July 01, 2018 in the conference room of the Divisional Director-FP, Sylhet attended by the GoB and NGO stakeholders of the Sylhet Division. National Nutrition Week 2018 Observed

The National Nutrition Week (April 23-29, 2018) began aimed at creating awareness about the importance of nutrition for health which has an impact on development, productivity, economic growth and ultimately the national development. Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury inaugurated week as the chief guest at city’s Osmani Memorial auditorium. Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammed Nasim, Food Minister Qamrul Islam and State minister for Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock Narayan Chandra Chanda were present there as special guests. A new eLearning course on Tuberculosis (TB) available online

The USAID Ujjiban SBCC Project has made available an online eLearning course on Basic Contents on Tuberculosis (TB) for Field Workers in health, population and nutrition sector. This is a video-based eLearning course which includes illustration and animation. The course is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of field workers on TB. The course comprises of six modules. These are  Basic Concept of TB, Child TB, Multiple Drug Resistance (MDR) TB, Prevention and Treatment of TB, Role of Social and Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC)  in TB Control Program and Roles and Responsibilities of Field Workers in TB Control Program. The USAID Ujjiban SBCC Project is going to launch an online eLearning course on Tuberculosis (TB) for field workers in health, population and nutrition sector. This is a video-based eLearning course which includes illustration and animation. The course is designed to enhance the update knowledge and skills of field workers on TB, and supplement the training they received. Tuberculosis, remains the world’s leading infectious disease, are responsible for the deaths of nearly 1.7 million people each year and representing the ninth leading cause of death globally.  Each year, on 24 March, the world observes World TB Day. The day is an occasion to mobilize political and social commitment for further progress towards eliminating TB as a public health burden.  The theme for World TB Day 2018 is “Wanted: Leaders for a TB-Free World; You can make history. “A Brief on ‘Ujjiban’ Baseline Survey”

United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has awarded a grant to the Johns Hopkins Center for Communication Program (CCP) to generate demand for maternal, neonatal, child and adolescent health (MNCAH), family planning (FP), nutrition and tuberculosis (TB) services in Bangladesh using high quality social and behavior change communication (SBCC) through Ujjiban SBCC project.
